Std Cube Style Plant

The Carpinus betulus, also commonly known as the European or Common Hornbeam, is a plant that is native to several regions including Asia, Europe and even Southern England. The plant was once known as “Yoke Elm”. Now available in a standard cube style of plant,the plant itself has an extremely high hardiness rating of H7 makes it perfect for the UK’s climate. Make sure to plant in well drained soil. The plant itself is a very fast grower at about 30 cm (11.8 inches) to 60 cm (23.6 inches) each year. The eventual spread is between 60cm – 1.5 m (2.0 ft – 4.9 ft) and the maximum height is between 1.8 m – 2.0 m (5.9 ft – 6.6 ft) It is advised to give this plant a trim once a year. it is good for cultivating in a woodland but is also prone to diseases such as powdery mildews and coral spot. Be careful of pests too such as caterpillars and aphids. The true beauty of this plant is seen in the Autumn when the leaves become a very beautiful brown and yellow colour.
