‘Variegata’ is a small deciduous tree with strongly tiered branches bearing narrowly ovate leaves broadly margined with cream and turning yellow in autumn. Small, cream flowers in flat clusters are followed by black berries. The plant itself originates in Asia and is native to China, Korea, the Himalayas and Japan. The plant is hardy at H5 and is perfect for the British climate although take caution in an extreme cold snap and make sure to shelter the plant. It is prone to pests but it is generally disease free. Maximum height is between 4 m – 8 m (13.12 ft – 26 ft) and eventual spread is between 4 m – 8 m (13.12 ft – 26 ft)
